Mental Health First Aid England Courses

Accredited by MHFA England in the complete suite of Adult course.  Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions.  What you learn depends on the length of the course. See below for course information.

MHFAider Courses

2 day practical skills and awareness course designed to give you:

  • A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing, including your own

  • Practical skills and models around stress management, frame or reference and the Mental Health Continuum to utilise reactively and proactively with others

  • Confidence to spot the triggers and signs of poor mental health and step in, reassure and support a person in distress

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgement listening

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support

Following completion of the course you will have access to the 3 years support and benefits package offered by MHFA England.

MHFA Champion Course

1 day practical skills and awareness course which will teach you to:

  • Recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues

  • Provide initial support and guide a person towards appropriate professional support

  • Be mindful of your own wellbeing and share ideas with others

  • Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier workforce or community

  • Help create a positive culture and common language around mental health and challenge the stigma

MHFAider® Refresher

Half day (approx 4 hours) course reserved only for previously trained MHFA England MHFAiders. This course is designed to rejuvenate the knowledge originally learnt and give fresh useful ideas how to use content, models and skills. We discuss going deeper around creating the correct environment for people to thrive and how proactively you can continue to make a difference. This isn’t a test of your memory but a really great opportunity to re-engage and refresh your MHFAider® knowledge!

Following completion of the course you will have access to the 3 years support and benefits package offered by MHFA England.

MHFA Awareness

Half day (approx 4 hours) introductory course which is a great first step in leading a culture change around discussing mental health within an organisation. 

The course is designed to increase mental health awareness and give an understanding of how to look after wellbeing and challenge stigma.

This can be rolled out to all employees within a company, however to ensure the correct level of participation and involvement, there is a maximum 25 delegates per course.
